ABOUT
John Houston is a composer for film, television, video games, etc. He’s written music for a wide range of projects, from Discovery Family’s popular animated series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic (with composer Will Anderson) to HBO Max’s live action sci-fi Raised by Wolves (with composer Marc Streitenfeld). He’s also contributed additional orchestrations to the film Septembers of Shiraz (starring Adrien Brody and Salma Hayek), and was a featured pianist for Shudder‘s horror film Elevator Game. Before pursuing composition full-time, John was a pianist, performing classical music, as well as playing with rock bands and other groups. Some of his musical influences are Radiohead, Sigur Rós, Explosions in the Sky, Chopin, Rachmaninoff, and John Williams. Upcoming projects include an animated TV pilot and live action feature film, TBA soon.

I'm also...
a pianist...
As a pianist, John mostly plays small recitals for friends and family, but occasionally he performs on various soundtracks. He was a featured pianist on Shudder’s horror film “Elevator Game” (music by Kevon Cronin), as well as the documentary “Failure to Protect” (music by Lucas Cantor).
...and an arranger.
John also works regularly as an arranger or orchestrator on film and television scores. Most recently, he provided string arrangements for the 2023 film “Polarized” (music by Kevon Cronin) as well as the 2022 streaming series “La rebelión” (music by Edy Lan, Allison Cantor, and Lucas Cantor).
